Sleeve notes:
Wilbert Harrison is a versatile young man. His voice, in quality, is a smooth one and his style lies in the absence of style. Wilbert Harrison approaches each song as an entity… . . lending to it what the lyrics and melody demand. The record contained in this jacket easily proves the Harrison style. The material ranges from ballads to down and out blues to material with a country and western flavour. With as large a range as this, you will hear smooth and silky renditions of ballads such as "Listen My Darling” and "Don’t Wreck My Life". Then there are the shouting blues, full of love of life, such as "C. C. Rider" and "The Horse". For those who favour the down and out blues; Wilbert becomes plaintive and soulful in his interpretations of "Since I Fell For You" and "Why Did You Leave"? "My Love" is done in a rhythm, country and western fashion. The familiar "Kansas City" and its follow-up, "Goodbye Kansas City" are done in shuffle rhythm, with Harrison displaying his knowledge of what a gutteral, straight blues number should sound like. All in all, the songs named above and the other 5 tracks offered in this album present a multi-faceted picture of Wilbert Harrison. Let your ears hear this truly versatile young man.
