“Saturday Night Fever” by Various Artists - album review
features in: (B-list) Album Chart of 1977 ● (B-list) Album Chart of the 1970s |

Released in November, 1977, a month ahead of the film itself. You get the feeling the phenomenal success of each aspect of the creation was dependent on the other. The Bee Gees were the biggest contributors, creating eight songs for the finished double album, six of which were recorded by the group themselves. The best-selling soundtrack album of all-time, it topped the US charts for 24 straight weeks and the UK charts for 18 straight weeks, incredible runs both. Unusually for a soundtrack LP, never mind a disco record, it also won a Grammy Award for Album of the Year.
