“The Yardbirds” by The Yardbirds - album review

Thought of as a bit of a classic in rock circles, the third Yardbirds album proper was a solid affair, the emphasis being on Rock with shades of Blues and Psychedelia. All five group members being equally assigned co-writing credits on all 12 tracks. They lined up: Keith Relf (lead vocals, harmonica), Jeff Beck (lead guitar), Chris Dreja (rhythm guitar, backing vocals, piano), Paul Samwell-Smith (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Jim McCarty (drums, percussion, backing vocals). Dreja's front cover depiction of the record's audio engineer, Roger Cameron, gave the album an unofficial title of “Roger The Engineer”. Er, nice compliment!?
