“Kinda Kinks” by The Kinks - album review
features in: Album Chart of 1965 ● Album Chart of the Decade: 1960s |

After the raucous debut of 5 months earlier, the rush-released follow up was, to a certain extent, anti-climactic, lacking quality material. The covers (50/50 last time out) were kept to a minimum this time around, namely “Naggin’ Woman” (Jimmy Anderson, 1962) and “Dancing In The Street” (Martha and The Vandellas, 1964). “Tired Of Waiting For You” is the clear standout, and had given the group their second number one single in the UK just a couple of weeks prior to the album's release. The “weary of the chase” vocal suggested a new Kinks sound was in the air; it was, but it wasn't quite realised on “Kinda Kinks”.
