“Earthspan” by The Incredible String Band - album review
features in: Album Chart of 1972 ● Album Chart of the Decade: 1970s |

The exoticism of previous works makes way for a more traditional brand of folk rock, with bluesy and jazzy touches here and there; highlight track is a good ol' bluegrass foot-tapper, “Black Jack David”, a live favourite reworked from their “I Looked Up” album of 1970. The core duo of Mike Heron and Robin Williamson had recently released individual solo LPs, where their rock / folk differences were clear to hear. I'd have been in Robin's camp I think.
