Eight new tunes on this one plus four culled from the 3 preceding LPs, condemning it to "b" status. "Little Deuce Coupe" stands as a concept album of sorts… almost all tracks revere the "hot rod". A ’Deuce Coupe’ is a 1932 Ford Model B Coupe (deuce being for the year). This was considered by many to be the definitive "hot rod". A pink slip (mentioned in the lyrics) was the title to the car, named for the colour of the paper then used in California vehicle ownership certificates. The title track stands forever as one of the absolute highlights in the bands vast catalogue. In contrast, a sombre tone is delivered towards the albums close on "A Young Man Is Gone", a rather magnificent tribute to the late James Dean… "Screaming tyre, flashing fire, and gone was this young star… and they say that he’ll be known for evermore as the Rebel Without A Cause"… Careful on those bends guys…
