“Atem” by Tangerine Dream - album review
features in: Album Chart of 1973 ● Album Chart of the Decade: 1970s |
Fourth album from the West Berlin electronic trio who lined-up: Edgar Froese (mellotron, organ, guitar, voice), Peter Baumann (organ, piano, VCS3) and Christopher Franke (VCS3, drums, percussion, organ, voice). The LP is regarded by many as a landmark release in both electronica and ambient fields, and was named as album of the year by John Peel. I feel enormously guilty for not loving this as much as my peer group tell me I should, but there we go; I don't think space prog is quite for me. Hipsters were all over it and Richard Branson had them signed up to his new Virgin Records label tout-suite.
