“Stephen Stills” by Stephen Stills - album review
features in: Album Chart of 1970 ● Album Chart of the Decade: 1970s ● 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die ![]() |

The 4th album bearing the name of the 25-year-old singer-songwriter and the first to be solely billed to him alone, although it features a plethora of guests famous in their own right including Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Booker T. Jones, Ringo Starr, Rita Coolidge, David Crosby, Cass Elliott and Graham Nash. In a nice touch, Stills dedicated the work to Jimi Hendrix, who had died in September, two months before the album arrived in stores. Starts splendidly with “Love The One You're With” but this proves to be a false down as the album settles into the uninspiring session-rock order of the day.
