“Getz / Gilberto” by Stan Getz and João Gilberto featuring Antônio Carlos Jobim - album review
features in: Album Chart of 1964 ● Album Chart of the Decade: 1960s ● 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die |
A somewhat dire jazzy bossa nova snoozefest, the rather lovely “The Girl From Ipanema” notwithstanding. The collaborative project featured American saxophonist Stan Getz and Brazilian guitarist João Gilberto, with pianist and composer Antônio Carlos Jobim. In the big picture, it's one of the biggest-selling jazz albums of all time, and widely regarded as a stone classic.
