Broke and feeling exploited by Don Arden and others at Decca Records, the Small Faces switched to the Immediate label headed by ex-Rolling Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham. Decca's predictable response was to cobble together the second Small Faces album, released in June 1967, compiling from recordings made in 1965 and 1966. It could, however, be regarded as an A-list affair as only two tracks repeated from the debut album; “Sha-La-La-La-Lee” and “Whatcha Gonna Do About It”. As well as those, 3 of their last singles of 1966 were included; the poppish “Hey Girl”, the classic “All Or Nothing” and the decent “My Mind's Eye”. Songs which they would re-record for Immediate were also included; “My Way Of Giving” ( which they had demoed for Chris Farlowe) and “(Tell Me) Have You Ever Seen Me” (which they had given to Apostolic Intervention). They do a good job with the 3 of the 6 covers; “Runaway” (Del Shannon, 1962), “Plum Nellie” (Booker T. & the M.G.'s, 1965) and “You’ve Really Got A Hold On Me” (The Miracles, 1962), the latter two most especially. All in all, it's a mixed bag with dubious corporate intent, but a good 'un nonetheless.
