“Moving Pictures” by Rush - album review

For their 8th long-player in February, 1981, the Toronto trio remain: Geddy Lee (vocals, bass, synthesizers), Alex Lifeson (electric and acoustic guitars) and Neil Peart (drums, percussion). This album was their biggest seller to date, climbing to #1 at home, #3 in the States and #3 in the UK, fuelled by the success of the two Top 10 American singles; “Tom Sawyer” (#8) and “Limelight” (#4). Since 1976's “2112” (my only previous album of theirs) they seem to have compromised some, introducing some New Wave concessions to their brand of tight, progressive rock, but I'm still far from moved. A flirtation with Reggatta de Blanc is mildly interesting at the very close, but that's about it.
