“Happy Trails” by Quicksilver Messenger Service - album review
features in: Album Chart of 1969 ● Album Chart of the Decade: 1960s ● 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die |
Second album from the much-loved acid-rockers, all recorded live at Fillmore East (New York) and Fillmore West (San Francisco), heavily in homage to Bo Diddley without actually appealing to me as a big Bo Diddley fan. More wah-wah than wham-bam I'm afraid to say. Still, it sold 500,000 copies in the U.S. so what do I know? Pass marks for the inventive wild-west thriller “Calvary”, written by their own guitarist, Gary Duncan.
