“Revolution!” by Paul Revere and The Raiders featuring Mark Lindsay - album review
features in: Album Chart of 1967 ● Album Chart of the Decade: 1960s |

A lot of session musicians are involved with this one, as they continue to experiment in a vaguely Sgt Pepper style; this I imagine to be the basis for the “Revolution”. Unrepresentative of this, the LP starts excellently with the smash-hit single “Him Or Me (What’s It Gonna Be?)”, still basking in a Monkees-esque pop flavour. The neat blues-drag of “Reno” keeps up the cool vibe, but this doesn't last too long on side one. The album's seond single, “I Had A Dream”, opens up side two - it's a poor man's Sgt. Pepper. Better is “Tighter”, a psychedelic pop swirler with plenty of hook. I'm always kinda wary with this group for some reason but, to be fair, this LP is not too shabby.
