“I’m A Lonesome Fugitive” by Merle Haggard and The Strangers - album review

Basking in the glory of his recent #1 country hit, “The Fugitive”, the album, titled “I'm A Lonesome Fugitive”, was released in March, 1967. The tone throughout is generally one of regret and there are plenty of references to his own recent prison term for burglary. They say music's very theraputic and I think Merle self-prescribed his way out. As always, accompanying him on vocals and guitar are the Strangers: Roy Nichols (guitar), Ralph Mooney (steel guitar), George French (piano), Jerry Ward (bass) and Eddie Burris (drums).
