“I Walk The Line [1964]” by Johnny Cash - album review
features in: (B-list) Album Chart of 1964 ● (B-list) Album Chart of the 1960s |

In a move which seems combatitive to the constant stream of Sun Records compilations, Columbia released “I Walk The Line”, offering 4 new Johnny Cash tunes together with 8 back catalogue reworkings, most of which stem from the Sun period, with the likes of the title track, “Folsom Prison Blues” and “Hey Porter” lumped in for guaranteed casual consumer confusion. Of the new tracks, the relaxed banter of “Bad News” is a laugh and a half which makes me think “what’s he ON?” whilst “Understand Your Man” vaguely recalls some of the Mexicana from “Ring Of Fire”. A good one… despite the fan-milking politics…
