“Slaughter’s Big Rip-Off” by James Brown - album review
features in: Album Chart of 1973 ● Album Chart of the Decade: 1970s |

James Brown’s second Blaxploitation film soundtrack - and both in 1973. His was a busy crew. Bandleader Fred Wesley creates some neatly orchestrated works here, fusing the funk with a pucker big band vibe. It’s a classy set, not exactly vital, but worth checking out all the same. As with the preceding “Black Caesar”, I want to see the film now!
