The white boys and girls of Britain seemed to dig it just fine and, generally speaking, this is a respectable enough set as it goes. In the final analysis though, this is a soul covers album, and there isn’t a single track which adds anything to the originals. The smart money would be sticking with Lee Dorsey, Sam Cooke and Dobie Gray thank you very much. Georgie’s bizarre attempt to reinvent himself as a Trinidadian on the Lord Kitchener cover seals the deal. It’s a “poor” from me…
