“Tusk” by Fleetwood Mac - album review
features in: Album Chart of 1979 ● Album Chart of the Decade: 1970s ● 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die ![]() |

I'm still not loving 70s Mac, but “Tusk” at least has a bit of a go at connecting with the new wave, resulting in almost a two point raise in my ratings system over the preceding “Rumours” bobbins. I note Lindsay Buckingham's contributions (5.23) rate a fair bit higher than the group average, although it's Christine McVie's “Never Make Me Cry” which rises to the top; melancholic and gorgeous. The album gave them their second consecutive #1 in the UK and was a #4 hit in the US, where “Rumours” had hit the top spot two and a half years earlier.
