“Elvis Now” by Elvis Presley - album review
features in: Album Chart of 1972 ● Album Chart of the Decade: 1970s |

Despite the title, “Elvis Now” was a bit of a hodge-podge release, assembled from various sessions between 1969 and 1971. To be fair, it seems to have been vaguely themed as some kind of mellow affair, touching on country, gospel, soul and pop styles exploring his regular themes of the day; loneliness, despair, faith, hope, and love. At the time of this release (February, 1972) the 37-year-old's marriage to Priscilla had fallen apart; the image and the person seem like they were one and the same on this album.
