“The Israelites [1969]” by Desmond Dekker and The Aces - album review

features in: (B-list) Album Chart of 1969(B-list) Album Chart of the 1960s

TJR says

Released in the U.S. on the MCA subsidiary Universal City Records (UNI 73059). Essentially, this was an alternative version of the Jamaican “Intensified” LP, with 4 tracks being omitted - “Coconut Water”, “My Lonely World”, “Sweet Music” and “Wise Man” and 2 tracks being added - “Problems” and the unit-shifting friendliness of the Stevie Wonder cover “For Once In My Life”. This was also the first of many Desmond Dekker LP’s to be titled “Israelites”. Close attention is required. Also, this same LP had many territorial variations in Europe, with a few tracklisting tweaks here and there.
