“From Here To Mama Rosa” by Chris Farlowe with The Hill - album review
features in: Album Chart of 1970 ● Album Chart of the Decade: 1970s |
It had been 4 years since the last Chris Farlowe album so he was probably quite pleased to be hired by The Hill as the lead vocalist for this set. They were: Bruce Waddell (bass), Colin Davey (drums), Peter Robinson (keyboards), Steve Hammond (guitar) and Paul Buckmaster (cello). It's often a bit too progressive for me, but I cared for a couple of tracks near the end; “Black Sheep” delivers some of that old Spencer Davis Group soul-power whilst the similarly soulful “Mama Rosa” serves well as an anthemic finale.
