“Planet Waves” by Bob Dylan - album review
features in: Album Chart of 1974 ● Album Chart of the Decade: 1970s |

After 12 years and 13 albums with Columbia Records this was Bob Dylan’s first venture on a different label, L.A. based Asylum Records getting the gig. The sprightly folk rocker “On A Night Like This” gets things off to a promising start but it’s immediately betrayed by the Alabama Southern Rock stylings of “Going Going Gone”. And so the whole sorry, disappointing affair rumbles on… despite some occasional flickers it’s soft rock boredom from The Band and A.N. Other which dominates the vibe. The great man seems to be lurching from one disaster to another…
