“Vincebus Eruptum” by Blue Cheer - album review

Debut album from the San Franciscan stone-rock trio of Dickie Peterson (vocals, bass), Leigh Stephens (guitar) and Paul Whaley (drums). Intentions are good on the hard and raunchy blues-rock interpretation of “Summertime Blues” (Eddie Cochran, 1958) and the blues-rock drag of “Rock Me Baby” (B.B. King, 1964). This reasonable start is not maintained from there, as they revert to the dreaded jam-rock style of the day, which was sadly becoming all-too prevalent in the counterculture world at that time.
