“Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” by Black Sabbath - album review
features in: Album Chart of 1973 ● Album Chart of the Decade: 1970s |

The album kicks off with “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” and I’m immediately pleased about the return of the great, heavy riffs, with not too much in the solo department. It’s a promising start. Elsewhere, their style is enhanced by adding strings, keyboards and more complex orchestral arrangements into the mix. The new “trendy” Sabbath were well received in circles hitheto reluctant to give ’em a cuddle. Me? As ever, I continue to be torn between my love of the riff and hate of the solo…
