“Black Sabbath, Vol. 4” by Black Sabbath - album review

Recorded over 3 months at a studio in Los Angeles - what a difference from the “all in a days work” approach of the debut. The album was originally to be titled “Snow Blind In L.A.”, after one of several songs referring to cocaine use. In the liner notes for Volume 4 Black Sabbath thank “the great COKE-Cola Company”, whilst bassist Geezer Butler sported a sticker on his white bass that stated “Enjoy CoCaine”, a parody of the slogan “Enjoy Coca-Cola.” Volume 4 is indulgent in every way, and a boring listen with not a single track resonating with my sensibilities…
