TJR says

Much revered album from the Memphis quartet, digging on the Beatles, the Byrds and the Stones, whilst introducing strangely futuristic motifs that would later be expanded upon by other artists in the realms of power pop and indie. They were: Chris Bell (guitar, vocals), Alex Chilton (guitar, vocals), Andy Hummel (bass guitar, vocals) and Jody Stephens (drums). Terry Manning (electric piano, harmony vocals) guests. It's a very pleasant affair with some strong harmonizing throughout but, for me, any early promise on side one is betrayed by some drippy entries in the second half. I've seen bigger stars.
